The Aetna Foundation is dedicated to improving health in local communities and large populations alike. How do we make it happen? Through community-based programs, dynamic partnerships and proven models that can help people accelerate progress everywhere.
We made history in 1972, when the Aetna Foundation became the nation’s first corporate foundation dedicated to community involvement. But the roots of Aetna’s devotion to community wellness reach much deeper into the past. Aetna was making major donations in the 1930s, treating circus fire victims in the 1940s, and spurring civic and social change in the 1950s and 1960s. And our company and its employees continue to devote their hearts, minds and dollars to make communities better. Amidst the sweep of our philanthropic story are highlights that tell a larger story – of our country’s increasing focus on improving health equity, quality and outcomes for all people.
