Bridging the gap between kids and good nutrition
With support from the Aetna Foundation, DC Central Kitchen is expanding its Healthy Futures program. The program helps schools, after-school programs, summer camps and local convenience stores provide fresh, nutritious snacks and meals to children in Washington, DC’s most underserved neighborhoods.
Creating momentum for a healthier generation
In Austin, school-based education programs delivered by A Legacy of Giving are transforming Aetna Foundation support into youthful action to improve community health. Through A Youth Movement for Healthy Change, students are learning to act as advocates, designing projects that propose healthy change in their schools and communities.
Encouraging healthy habits in a housing community
With Aetna Foundation support, Mercy Housing Northwest, a low-income housing community in Washington state, is igniting healthful habits among children and adults alike. Participants in the Healthy Families: Adopting a New Lifestyle program are learning about nutrition and preparing healthy meals – and getting fit through dance, yoga and other fitness activities.
