Health Care Equity

Bringing together bright minds to take on inequities

Achieving health care equity is one of our nation’s most challenging priorities. To formulate promising responses to inequities, we’re working with partners to launch a bold idea-sharing initiative. The Health Equity Leadership & Exchange Network (HELEN) will provide a national forum for health equity champions. The goal: to advance racial and ethnic health equity in laws, policies, and programs.

Investigating differences in how health care is delivered

Do patients of different races and ethnicities experience variations in quality care – even when such care is delivered by the same physician? To seek insights into this and related questions we’re supporting research at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University. The goal is to learn more about disparities in ambulatory care for chronic conditions, such as cardiovascular disease.

Scholars shape tomorrow’s health care

We work with a range of partners who are supporting medical students and research professionals as they emerge as leaders in pursuing health-care equity. Our grants help underrepresented minority students learn about health-care careers, get hands-on training, work with mentors and dig into new research.
