Volunteerism
Choosing to make a difference
Aetna and the Aetna Foundation have a longstanding tradition of volunteer support. We have an award-winning program and a national network of highly engaged employee volunteer councils. Since 2003, our employees have logged nearly 2 million hours of community service.
Beyond just the numbers, Aetna employees:
- Sign up in higher numbers for the national bone marrow registry, compared with Americans as a whole
- Donate thousands of units of blood
- Spend hundreds of hours each year refurbishing homes for people with medical needs and other special needs
- Have made thousands of CUREchiefs. These colorful headscarves are for cancer patients and others with medical conditions that have led to hair loss.
- Serve as tutors and mentors to youth
Aetna employees work regularly to improve their communities, one volunteer project at a time.
