Marnie Goodman, communications director, is responsible for promoting the Aetna Foundation’s work and the accomplishments of its grantees.
Prior to joining the Aetna Foundation, she was manager, philanthropy and community relations, at The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. where she managed the company’s corporate giving, including local and national programs, employee volunteerism and communications. She also held several managerial positions in media relations, specializing in such public interest issues as older driver safety and workplace opportunities for people with disabilities.
Earlier in her career, she worked for Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports magazine. She served as managing editor of Consumer Reports TV News, a syndicated news service for local television stations nationwide, and as the nonprofit organization’s media relations officer.
She has been honored by Bulldog Reporter and PR Week for her work. A past president of the Middlesex County (Conn.) Historical Society, she has volunteered for several years as a math tutor in Hartford public schools.
She holds a B.A from Grinnell College in Iowa.
