A CUREchief is a soft triangle piece of fabric, like a bandana, that someone wears on their head.

I’m making a CUREchief right now. We supply all the tools needed, and we distribute them to hospitals and cancer centers all over the United States.

What inspired me to start CUREchief was my friend was diagnosed with cancer and lost her hair, so we sent her one. She received the first CUREchief, and the rest is history.

When I think of Aetna and the Aetna Foundation, I think of a strong, solid company with great values and just a lot of care for getting their employees involved in helping the communities.

With the support of Aetna and the Aetna Foundation, we were able to make an impact and touch 5,000 lives in just 30 days, which is truly amazing.

CUREchiefs are colorful, handmade head scarves. They are delivered free of charge to cancer patients and others whose conditions may cause hair loss.

To send messages of hope to these patients, Aetna and the Aetna Foundation teamed up with The CUREchief Foundation® Inc. last fall to make 5,000 CUREchiefs available to patients of all ages. Aetna employees around the country regularly volunteer to make CUREchiefs, write inspirational messages and package them for shipping to cancer patients.

Aetna and the Aetna Foundation have supported The CUREchief Foundation through a series of grants totaling $71,000 since 2005. This financial support, combined with the enthusiastic involvement of our employee volunteers, has helped The CUREchief Foundation to magnify its positive impact on people’s lives across the country.
